Let’s Make A Community Scrapbook

Creative Conversation #2 of “Thinking of You: Mission and Valencia” by TCNS

Friday, September 14, 2007  4:00-8:00 PM
Saturday, September 15, 2007 12:00-6:00pm


The Counter Narrative Society (TCNS) invites anyone who lives, plays, works or shops on Mission and Valencia Streets to participate in their second creative conversation piece happening in their conference room/installation at the Hidden Histories headquarters exhibition. For this conversation, everyone is invited to bring photographs and drawings to create scrapbook pages to memorialize past and present features of Mission and Valencia Street. They also welcome ornaments. (A scanner and printer will be available on site to make photocopies of originals.)

Thinking of You

Video Installation of Creative Conversation #1 by TCNS


This past Saturday Sept. 8, The Counter Narrative Society conducted their first creative conversation that reminisce on Mission and Valencia Street. The conversation was video recorded and is becoming part of their office/installation. This component of the installation will be exhibiting over the month. Yuka’s Barbershop

Installation by Yuka Ezoe


Yuka has reconstructed a barbershop based on her research into Mission barbershops. She has collected her findings into a zine which can be viewed at the Barbershop. She periodically will cut hair


Islais Creek

Audio/ Visual Installation w/guided tour by Francisco Hernandez


Francisco has created an audio visual installation to support his self-guided audio pod cast. Visitor’s also have access to a series of maps that illustrate the periodic transformation of Islais creek.

The Weight of the land Lying Open

Installation and guided tour by Patrick Piazza


Patrick has created a installation concerned with the social and political underpinnings of Mission Bay as well as open space in San Francisco. A Self-guided tour map is available for visitor’s to tour Mission Bay for themselves.

Mission Greenbelt

Installation and guided tour by Amber Hasselbring


Amber has created an informative installation to promote her Mission Greenbelt proposal which would stretch from Franklin Square to Dolores Park. Come by and see native California plants, and help build a a puzzle of the Mission Green Belt.
