Radical Restoration in the Mission with Rachel Kesel

We'll meet at CELLspace at noon on Sunday, September 23rd and get our hands dirty with Rachel Kesel. Rachel will bring along some examples of plants that thrive in the Mission. She'll also share a list of ignored spots for potential radical restoration and discuss identifying your own site. Rachel will be demonstrating fast planting techniques for us in her portable demo box. We'll also learn about the best time of year to plant and how to maintain our gardens into the future. If we're really lucky, Rachel will bring us some pears from her tree.

HIDDEN HISTORIES
Divulging Secrets of San Francisco's Eastern Landscape @ Crucible Steel Gallery 2050 Bryant St.

Opening Reception Saturday, September 8. 8pm
Closing Party Saturday, September 29. 8pm
Crucible Steel Gallery 2050 Bryant St. @ 18th Street, San Francisco CA.

Cities can be secretive. Sometimes, you have to search in the most out-of-the-way nooks to uncover their stories or understand how they came to be. Hidden Histories artists explore narratives of San Francisco's Eastern landscape that have been obscured by time, development, familiarity, and social norms. Artists Yukako Ezoe, Amber Hasselbring, Francisco Hernandez, Patrick Piazza, and The Counter Narrative Society consider concepts of geography, space, tours and tourism, and the way that places hide and reveal their own histories.

The Crucible Steel Gallery serves as the Hidden Histories Headquarters and
Visitors Center with visual projects displaying artifacts, maps, and narrative installations. The gallery also serves as a point of departure for artist-led and self-guided tours that take place in neighborhoods, parks, and secret locations all over San Francisco's Eastern edge.

Curated by Hypersea artists: Joshua Short and Victoria Restler

CONTACT:
Joshua Short
HYPERSEA :: Co-director
T: (415) 642-6576
E: info@hypersea.net
W: www.hypersea.net
